ADMISSION POLICIES
Admission to the Regional Center for the Arts is open to Fairfield County high schools students with an interest in the performing arts. RCA is a public school of choice for families in Bridgeport, Darien, Easton/Region #9, Fairfield, Greenwich, Monroe, New Canaan, Norwalk, Oxford, Redding, Ridgefield, Shelton, Stamford, Stratford, Trumbull, Weston, Westport, and Wilton. We also accept students from school outside of our region. Currently, we have students attending RCA from Milford, Oxford and Ansonia as well as the districts mentioned above. Homeschooled students may also apply and be enrolled, but parents will be charged a portion of the tuition normally covered by the state and local districts. RCA students earn academic credits for our program.
Admission Process
As part of the admission process we ask students to participate in a placement audition for us to better understand her or his experience as a performer. It also gives us the chance to gauge the passion students have for the performing arts. After auditions, a lottery takes place. Students who do not gain admission in the first round are placed on a waiting list for open spots.
Enrollment Caps
We have enrollment caps for each department. We want to be able to serve students well and therefore we do not over-enroll in any department. We also work with local districts to be sure they are not over-enrolled at RCA.
